Smart Water worked as a sub-consultant on the Windermere Park irrigation project, for GbLA Landscape Architects. The client, Risland, aimed to provide an efficient and sustainable water management system for the City of Wyndham.

Design Process

The design process began with a comprehensive assessment of the site's characteristics and the Risland's requirements. Smart Water, as sub-consultants for GbLA Landscape Architects, worked  to understand their vision for the park and irrigation needs. This collaborative approach ensured that the final design met functional, aesthetic, and environmental objectives.

Hydrozoning & Product Selection

Hydrozoning, a fundamental aspect of the design, involved grouping plants with similar water requirements together. Smart Water, with input from GbLA Landscape Architects and the Risland, meticulously categorised plantings to optimise water distribution and conservation.

Given the park's dense tree cover, selecting the appropriate sprinklers was crucial. Smart Water's careful selection guarantees 100% coverage for grass areas, even amidst heavy tree foliage. This meticulous choice ensures uniform water distribution, promoting the health and lushness of the grass, essential for a vibrant park environment.

The selection of the Rain Bird ESP-LXIVM 2-wire decoder system was based on its advanced technology and flexibility. This system allows for individual zone control, enhancing water management & flow management precision. Additionally, the system's compatibility with modern technological advancement aligns with Risland's desire for an integrated management solution. By integrating advanced technology, sustainable design practices, and client input, the project delivers an irrigation system that meets the park's functional and environmental objectives.

Smart Water's role as a sub-consultant under GbLA Landscape Architects demonstrates its expertise in irrigation design and commitment to delivering innovative solutions. Moving forward, Windermere Park serves as a testament to the value of collaborative design processes in creating vibrant, sustainable outdoor spaces for communities to enjoy.
